Rana Dasgupta's first book, Tokyo Cancelled, a thirteen-part story cycle, was published in 2005. It was shortlisted for the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize and the Crossword Award (more).

His novel, Solo, won the 2010 Commonwealth Writers' Prize (more).

Capital, a non-fiction exploration of life and money in twenty-first-century Delhi, appeared in March 2014. In India it was awarded Tata Non-Fiction Book of the Year and shortlisted for the Crossword Award. In the UK it is currently shortlisted for the Orwell Prize and the Ondaatje Prize.
